The iconic Nallur Kandaswamy Temple in Sri Lanka’s Jaffna, has kicked off its annual chariot festival, attracting thousands of devotees.
The main event, Ther Thiruvizha, was celebrated yesterday as worshippers pulled an elaborately decorated chariot bearing the idol of Lord Murugan and chanted hymns. Devotees from around the world gathered to witness the procession of Lord Murugan through the streets of Jaffna.
The 25-day Nallur Festival, which includes traditional music, dance, and art forms, highlights the temple’s cultural significance and brings together Tamil communities from diverse backgrounds.
