Annual carpet weavers’ competition

A competition among carpet weavers of Turkmenistan entitled “Beauty created by a woman’s soul” was held in Ashgabat.

The main goal of the competition is to popularize the art of hand-made carpet weaving and preserve its best traditions. The contestants quoted fragments from the literary works of the leader of the nation about the centuries-old history of the Turkmen carpet, which is a reflection of the history of the Turkmen people.

Each participant was assigned a corner of 2 square meters where they exhibited their own carpets. Such a competition is held every year, and its theme is always related to the motto of the year proclaimed in Turkmenistan.
