State Administration Council Information Team issued an announcement of Nationwide Observance for the Day of National Mourning on March 31. The announcement stated that in solemn remembrance of the devastating 7.7-magnitude earthquake that struck Myanmar at 12:51:02 PM local time on March 28, 2025, resulting in tragic loss of life and widespread destruction, the Chairman of the State Administration Council has declared a seven-day of National Mourning period from March 31 to April 6, 2025.

As part of the nationwide observance, the mourning activities including half-mast flagpoles or designated mourning venues, a one-minute moment of silence and respectful bowing,  all moving vehicles and pedestrians to pause for one minute in silent tribute,  a mourning siren to sound as a mark of respect, Media outlets temporarily to suspend regular programming and display mourning logos in honor of the victims, religious institutions (temples, churches, mosques, etc.) to conduct prayers, recitations of Paritta Suttas, and merit-sharing c in accordance with their respective faiths.

These commemorative activities will be observed nationwide the following activities will take place at 12:51:02 PM on April 1, 2025, and all citizens are urged to participate respectfully in this collective expression of grief and solidarity.
