Anit-Corruption: Workshop On Anti-Corruption Held In Monywa

A workshop on Anti-Corruption with the title of “Responsible Governance and Businesses” jointly organized by the Anti-Corruption Commission and Sagaing Region Government with the technical support of UNDP was held at MyaThalar Hall in Monywa in the morning on Thursday.

The speaker of Sagaing Region Parliament U Than delivered a remark at the workshop.

In his remark, the chairman of Anti-Corruption Commission U Aung Kyi said that the definition of corruption has the wider sense than the bribery. It encompassed the abusing of authorized power vested under the trust which is concerned not only with the government departments but also private sector and from accepting bribery of small amount of money to the damage and loss of the money and properties owned by the state.

The union parliament enacted the fourth revised Anti-Corruption Law with the Law No (20/2018) on 21st June, 2018. According to that law, the corruption is not only concerned with bribery and it was supplemented with the points of causing the damage and loss of the money and properties owned by the state by violating any existing law, rule, regulation and procedure. So, the commission will enable to combat the forms of corruption caused the damaging the interests, values and developments of the state which are more serious than the bribery etc.

Next, Professor Dr. Aung Tun Thet had a talk on the topic of “Combating Corruption for the Development”. During the workshop, the speakers also discussed the topics of responsible governance sector, Anti-Corruption Law, Responsible Businesses, Responsible CSO sector and the possibility of the risk of corruption.

In the afternoon, the participants raised the queries on their inquisitiveness and responsible officials replied those queries.
