Ancient Heritage: Renovation of damaged pagoda and ancient lake

Renovation works have been carried out for the damage of Ancient Pagoda No.1983 (Sutaung Pyae Pagoda), situated in the west of Taungby Village in Bagan.

Due to the strong wind and heavy rain on 20th September, parts of the pagoda were damaged, and preliminary renovation works are currently underway.

On Sunday, Union Minister for Religious Affairs and Culture U Tin Oo Lwin visited the project site, and instructed for long term maintenance of the structure, consulting with the Myanmar Earthquake Committee and Myanmar Engineering Council. The Union Minister also inspected the renovation of Ywa Haung Gyi Lake and instructed for systematic works without damaging the original features.
