In Denizli’s Tavas district, Türkiye traces of life dating back millions of years are being brought to light. Excavations that have been ongoing since 2022 have uncovered more than 600 fossils, each dating back millions of years, offering a glimpse into the life of that era.

The fossils, estimated to be 7 to 9 million years old, have drawn international scientific attention to Türkiye. Remains of giraffes, rhinoceroses, horses, elephants, and many other species discovered in Kayaca village provide important clues about the prehistoric ecosystem of Anatolia. One of the most remarkable aspects of the excavation is the use of three-dimensional recording techniques to document the fossils.
