Alms offering to 10,272 Sangha: Mandalay Region Government organized the ceremony

At the day of the religious significance for Myanmar Buddhists, the Buddha Day which falls on the full moon day of Kasone month of 1386 Myanmar Era (22nd May, 2024), jointly organized by Mandalay Region Government and Well-wishers, the alms-food, offertories and cash donation to 10,272 members of Sangha from four corners of Mandalay City was held at 6 AM at the designated pandals of four corners simultaneously.

The ceremony was observed led by Mandalay Region Government, by the well-wishers in commemorating to the New Sasana Era of 2568 year from old era of 2567 and aiming at all citizens to free from dangers.

The ceremony was attended by the State Ovadacariya Abhidhdja Maharathaguru presiding Sayadaw of Meiktila monastery in Dhammikarama monastic complex, Region and Township Sangha Nayaka Sayadaws, Mandalay Region Chief Minister U Myo Aung and wife, Commander of Central Command MaJ-Gen Kyi Khaing and wife, Chief Justice of the Region High Court, Region Ministers and their wives, departmental officials, well-wishers and invited guests.

First, the 10,272 members of Sangha from four corners of Mandalay City took the positions at designated pandals and temporary rest areas.At the morning, the congregation led by the Region Chief Minister and wife, Commander of Central Command and wife observed five precepts administered by the Sayadawgyi, took the Paritta Suttas, offered offertories to the Sayadawgyis and shared the merits gained.

After that, Region Chief Minister and wife, Commander of Central Command and wife, Chief Justice of the Region High Court, Region Ministers and their wives, departmental officials, well-wishers offered the alms-food, offertories and cash donation to 10,272 members of Sangha from four corners of Mandalay City, it’s reported.
