Albanese determined to repair Pacific Islands ties

Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said his new government is determined to put the country's relationship with Pacific Island nations back on track following China's security pact signing with the Solomon Islands earlier this year.

Anthony Albanese, Australian Prime Minister said “Australia doesn't respond to demands. We respond to our national interest. I'll say this, we will cooperate with China where we can. I want to build good relations with all countries, but we will stand up for Australia's interests when we must." 

Albanese and New Zealand Prime Minister, Jacinda Ardern, will attend the Pacific Islands Forum in Fiji later this week.
