AI and Author Collaborate on Short Story Published in Japanese Magazine

A Japanese magazine published a short story co-written by artificial intelligence and literary author Qudan Rie.

Titled Kage no Ame (Rain of Shadow), the story imagines a world after humanity's extinction, where AI explores human emotions through remnants of memories. The story, featured in Kohkoku magazine, credited ChatGPT with writing 95 percent, while Qudan contributed 5 percent through revisions. 

Completed in two weeks, the project followed a challenge from an advertising agency for Qudan, to allow AI to take the lead. She expressed satisfaction with the result, saying it helped her reconsider the nature of fiction writing.
