Agriculture Sector: Meeting for acreage, multiple crop plantation, food security

Bago Region Government held a meeting at the TawinHantha meeting hall for expansion of cultivation acreage and multiple crop plantation and food security.

In this meeting, Chief Minister U Myo Swe Win called for efforts to implement double-crop plantation in townships across the region and pledged to provide assistance. He also called on attendees to conduct awareness programmes and research to plant and grow at suitable lands. The Chief Minister also urged them to makes preparations to avoid the problem of scarcity of agricultural water.

In terms of food security, it’s to act from a household ownership system to the level of commercial farming. Technology, pure seeds and access to capital will be provided. The Chief Minister stressed that it’s necessary to make an all-round effort to have import substitution and to increase export production.

And, the attendees reported and made discussions on tasks for expansion of cultivation acreage and multiple crop plantation. The Chief Minister coordinated the reports and discussions.
