





The Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation is actively working to plant the high-yielding rice varieties with limited water needs which can also adapt to the climate in dry areas due to climate changes and to educate farmers to understand and practice the irrigation system systematically.
On Saturday, Deputy ministers Dr. Tin Htut and U Bo Bo Kyaw and departmental officials attended the ceremony of selecting the paddy varieties which can be planted in both plain region and hilly region at the Department of Agriculture in Zeyathiri Township.
Then, the Deputy ministers attended the 6th Farmers’ Forum which is held on every Saturday to provide solutions to the technical difficulties related to agricultural production by making discussions between the experts, officials and farmers.
On the occasion, the Deputy Minister Dr. Tin Htut stressed to conduct research with the collaboration of the local farmers to be able to choose the right paddy varieties according to the soil conditions and climate changes and encourage the officials and farmers to work together for the development of the agriculture sector.
Then, the Deputy Minister U Bo Bo Kyaw emphasized the Wate User Groups (WUG) to participate in planting high yielding paddy variety with limited water needs, to prevent wasting agricultural water, to get enough water based on the natural resources and to develop the water recycling technology.
Then, he urged the leaders of the WUG to share knowledge to the farmers in nearby areas. Then, the officials and experts from the Department of Agricultural Research and Department of Irrigation and Water Utilization made sector-wise discussions with the farmers.
