Agriculture Sector: Dy Minister makes inspections in Tanintharyi Region

Deputy Minister for Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation Dr. Aung Gyi attended the demonstration of the Rain-guard Tapping System at Perennial Crops Research and Development Centre (Shwedoo) in Myeik Township of Tanintharyi Region.

There, he said that the raw industrial crop, which is crucial for local industries and the export sector, is planted on about 1.6 million acres and the second largest plantation is in Tanintharyi Region. Educational programmes are conducted for the right choice of seedlings and plantation processes.

During the demonstration, the official of the Department of Agriculture reported on the good and weak points of the Rain-guard Tapping System and the deputy minister and party gave orange seedlings and other materials to the owners of rubber farms.

The deputy minister also attended the handover ceremony of vegetable species and demonstration of preventing pests on summer paddy in Sandawutt Village of Myeik Township. Also, the deputy minister met with the palm oil entrepreneurs at the District Agriculture Department office.

During the meeting, he discussed the enhancement of technology for palm oil production and investment, all-inclusive and sustainable businesses supporting farmers of small-scale plantations, the establishment of palm oil organizations in the Tanintharyi Region and cooperation to set up the oil mills.
