Agriculture Sector: Deputy Minister holds meeting in Taunggyi

Deputy Minister for Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation Dr. Tin Htut presided over a coordination meeting for agricultural sector development and acceleration of cooperation among farmers, growers, private companies and the government.

In this meeting in Taunggyi, the Deputy Minister praised the soil and climate of Shan State for agricultural production. For the long-term sustainable use of good water resources and land resources, and for the production of high-value crops that will bring more benefits to farmers, the technology and knowledge dissemination activities involving farmers will be increased.

Similarly, in the field of seed production and applied research, the Department, the private sector, and the farmers and growers should work together in a balanced manner. He also called for efforts for the best approach technology services to farmers after studying their needs and responses.

Concerned officials need to try to make farmers actually adopt modern farming technology, he added. And, this meeting continued with discussions on matters including ongoing works, plans, regional development works, technologies provision, pure strains and pure seeds.
