







The Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation is making concerted efforts on production of pedigree seeds and purebred livestock, which play a pivotal role in the agricultural and livestock industries development.
The Union Minister U Min Naung on Tuesday made a field inspection of pure breeding farms in Shan State and Mandalay Region.
The Union Minister inspected the monsoon paddy seed production of Tar Yaw Agricultural Research Farm in Taunggyi Township. He gave instructions on production of quality and high-yielding varieties of seeds that are suitable for the region.
Based on the seeds productivity of the farm, these quality seeds have to be distributed to the targeted areas in an orderly manner. Then, the Union Minister proceeded to Thaphan Livestock Breeding Applied Research and Regeneration Farm of Mandalay Region and inspected the sheep breeding and hatching process.
Then, he instructed the needs for the production of wool and other related products, development of livestock farming and job opportunities creation for locals through MSME businesses.
And then, the Union Minister and party inspected breeding and hatching processes, water access, breeding research and the project area where expansion of pure breeding will be carried out.
Next, the Union Minister oversaw cultivation of sunflower and cotton at the Chaung Ma Gyi Purebred Farm and the Sibin Farm in Pyawbwe Township and the experimental cultivation of cotton varieties from Uzbekistan.
He then met with the local farmers, frankly discussed the agricultural production and the needs of the farmers, and gave instruction for promotion of agricultural tasks, irrigation, assistance by relevant departments for obtaining varieties and technology and further cooperation by farmers.
