Agriculture & Livestock Sector: Coordination meeting for acceleration of production

Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation held a coordination meeting for acceleration of agriculture, livestock and agricultural production.

In this meeting, Union Minister U Min Naung stressed the importance of adherence to the government's policies and guidelines related to the Ministry and implementation for the development of the agriculture sector and food security as well as cooperation among relevant departments, timely reports, arrangements, high performance of individual employees, ethics and unity.

In 2023-2024, as the GDP growth rate of the agricultural sector is targeted to reach 2.4 percent, 2.5 percent of the agriculture sector and 2.1 percent of the livestock sector must be improved.

Works need to be accelerated for multiple crop cultivation. Weakness and requirements also need to be solved for cultivation in the coming rainy season.

For food security and palm oil import reduction, efforts must be made to increase and expand the cultivation of sunflower oil crops, the Union Minister added.

This meeting continued with discussions on plans by respective departments under the Ministry and ongoing projects being implemented with the State Economic Promotion Fund.
