




Deputy Minister for Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation Dr. Tin Htut attended a demonstration field of Sin Shwe Kya-2 sunflower variety at Bae Kone Model Planting Field in PobbaThiri Township of Nay Pyi Taw Union Territory. During a meeting with local farmers, the Deputy Minister said sunflower is a crop that can indicate whether the agricultural ecosystem is good or bad. It is also a crop that can restore damaged ecosystems.
By planting sunflowers in a suitable crop pattern, it could help increase the numbers of insect such as bees and butterflies that help pollinate crops, leading to achieve more crop yield. He urged farmers to implement a system of producing their own sunflower seeds each year.
Then, the Deputy Minister met with officials from the Agricultural University and Departments and researchers, along with farmers from Pyinmana, Lewe, Zabuthiri, Dekkhinathiri, Uttarathiri, Zeyathiri, and Pobbathiri Townships of Nay Pyi Taw Union Territory, observed the standard flowers that could produce seeds in the Sin Shwe Kya-2 sunflower seed production field.
