Agriculture Development: Extended cultivation of edible oil crops

Kachin State plans to establish a Crop Growers and Producers Association by implementing a model plantation in Khaing Taung Kyun area of Akyae Village-tract in Myitkyina Township with the use of budget from State Economic Promotion Fund.

Chief Minister U Khet Htein Nan in his capacity as the Patron of the committee, met with the members of Supervisory Committee for Village Project and farmers on Saturday.

There are over 3,000 acres of plantation in 6 farming grounds, and farmers use to grow maize, sesame, edible oil-bearing crops and other crops. At present, plans are underway to extend cultivation of edible oil crops including sunflower.
