Agriculture Development: Efforts for extended cultivation of oil crops

Kachin State Chief Minister U Khet Htein Nan visited Nawngtalaw Mid-River Island in Myitkyina on Saturday to oversee the estended cultivation of winter crops.

He met with the farmers and urged all to strive for extended cultivation of crops, especially sunflower, for local food sufficiency. He then took part in braodcasting of sunflower seeds at 11 acres farmland, and toured around the island to oversee the thriving plantations.

The Chief Minister and party later proceeded to the Sand Bunk at the Ingyan River Junction and inspected the cultivation of oil crops, and land preparation works. The Chief Minister instructed for extended cultivation of oil crops and construction of a Sluice Gate at the Ingyan River Junction.
