Agriculture Development: Coordination meeting for achieving agricultural targets

Magway Region Government is paying special attention for development of agriculture sector, exceeding the targeted yields of ten major crops.

On 5th July, a work coordination meeting was held at the Regional Government Office, with the discussion focused on boosting agricultural production.

Chief Minister U Tint Lwin discussed that plans have been made to grow oil crops on over 2.4 million acres land plots, and out of these areas, more than 1.3 million acres will be established as two Special Zones for cultivating peanut, sesame and sunflower.

Moreover, four zones are underway to grow cotton on over 200,000 acres. He urged all to make concerted efforts for achieving targeted yields, implementing the mechanized farming system, using modern cultivation methods.
