Agriculture and Irrigation: Irrigation facilities in Meiktila District

Deputy Minister for Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation U Bo Bo Kyaw met with district and township officials of Irrigation and Water Utilization Management Department in Meiktila on September 16.

The Deputy Minister discussed matters on systematic management of irrigation water supply and full coverage of targeted sown acreage. Attendees reported on the work undertakings for the respective sectors.

The Deputy Minister later inspected the irrigation condition near Kone Taung Village included in the Meiktila Lake watershed area, and instructed for extended supply of irrigation water. The Deputy Minister and party also oversaw the solar-powered irrigation facilities in Nyaung Kan and Dahattan Villages and the chosen sites for planned solar-powered pumping projects. In meeting with local farmers, the Deputy Minister urged all to apply good agriculture practice for boosting crop yield.
