Agricultural Facilities in Magway: Crop supervision and industry development

Union Minister for Agriculture, Livestock, and Irrigation, U Min Naung, visited the Regional Research Center of the Agricultural Research Department in Magway on 29th March to inspect ongoing work undertakings.

During his visit, the Union Minister emphasized the need for systematic scrutiny of crop species names, aligning supervision with the Seed Law. He urged staff members to continually monitor the crop species used by farmers to ensure their needs are met.

Subsequently, the Union Minister toured the production of neem pesticides at the Neem Pesticides Factory, which is operated by private entrepreneurs under the Agriculture Department's ownership. Upon arrival at Mikyaungye Village, he engaged in discussions with local villagers regarding strategies to enhance production and regional development.

During the meeting, cotton, sunflower, and sesame seeds were distributed to farmers.

In the afternoon, the Union Minister held a meeting with cotton farmers and entrepreneurs in Magway. He urged all participants to collaborate for the development of the cotton industry, leveraging the collective strength of departmental personnel, entrepreneurs, and farmers. Efforts are underway to develop the cotton industry from local sufficiency to exporting surplus. F

or the 2024-2025 period, over 612,000 acres of cotton plantations are planned across 19 cultivation zones in six regions and states, with continual yearly improvement. A target of over 747 acres with a yield of 700 viss per acre is set for cultivation by 2027-2028. In Magway Region alone, over 260,000 acres across four cultivation zones are targeted for growth.
