Agricultural Development: Thriving sunflower plantation in Minbu (Saku)

On December 26th, Magway Region Chief Minister U Tint Lwin, accompanied by relevant officials, conducted a field inspection on the thriving cultivation of winter sunflower crops in Minbu (Saku) Township, Magway.

Upon arrival at Plot No. 1304 in Kyauk Tan village tract, the Chief Minister and party inspected farmer U Aung San Win’s (YeZin-1) sunflower field. They also assessed the systematic planting approach and the successful cultivation conditions while overseeing on the one-row, four-row planting pattern, soil-based fertilizers, weed control and the use of natural foliar sprays.

At the briefing hall, the Chief Minister and party met with farmers from Kyauk Tan, Kan Yay, and Yay Myet villages. They discussed expanding crop cultivation, improving yield, selecting good varieties, using natural fertilizers, reducing input costs, field education and loan access from the National Economic Promotion Fund.

The Chief Minister then heard reports on multi-crop farming, water availability, rural road improvements, solar water pumping systems and regional development in addition to coordinating the needs.

In Minbu (Saku) Township, 45 acres of winter sunflower crops, including 30 acres of Sin Shwe Kyar-2 and 15 acres of Ye Sin-1, have been successfully cultivated this season, according to the Township Agriculture Department.
