President U Min Aung Hlaing, accompanied by concerned officials, visited the Department of Agricultural Research under the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation at the Yezin University Campus in Nay Pyi Taw on June 5.
Union Minister U Min Naung and departmental officials briefed the President on seed production and research processes related to beans and pulses, sunflower varieties, and other crops. The President stated that the country's export volume of quality beans and pulses depends on continuous research and production of high-yielding, disease-resistant varieties with strong long-term market potential.
He noted that the quality of the country's exported beans and pulses still needs improvement compared with those of other countries and urged researchers to conduct systematic research while expanding cultivation areas.
The President also stressed the need to send research teams to areas experiencing low crop yields to identify practical solutions. Furthermore, he emphasized the importance of increasing agricultural exports by selling larger quantities of crops at lower profit margins.
