Agricultural Development: MCRD UM observes sunflower trial cultivation

Union Minister for Cooperatives and Rural Development U Hla Moe inspected the trial cultivation of oil crop sunflower on 15 acres land owned by Shwe Wa Htun (2) Agriculture Cooperatives Limited in Yone Taw Village of Lewe Township which is jointly implemented with Russian Federation Roscongress Investment Fund on 19th December. 

First, the responsible officials explained about the experimental cultivation sunflower strains such as Yezin from Myanmar, Norma, Bravo and Excellent from Russia etc. Upon the clarifications, the Union Minister said that it is needed to know the high yielding suitable strains for Myanmar’s climatic and soil conditions and the systematic records of work procedures are necessary.

He continued to say that agricultural processes are needed to be carried out systematically and cooperative efforts between the concerned departments including Department of Agriculture, Department of Agricultural Research as well as Irrigation and Water Utilization Management Department for timely water access. After that, the Union Minister and party oversaw the trial cultivations.
