Agricultural Development: Irrigation Facilities in Lewe Township inspected

Deputy Minister for Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation U Bo Bo Kyaw and departmental officials on 30th March made an inspection at Madam Dam in Lewe Township including water storage of Madan dam, completion of irrigation system, planting summer paddy, using Madam Dam irrigation system in 2023-2024 and water distribution via rotating system.

During the ground inspection, the Deputy Minister met with farmers and instructed them to contact with respective department for good quality seeds, inputs and techniques, to use fresh water resources systematically, and to conduct triple-crop plantation.

Afterwards, the Deputy Minister and party observed cultivations in highland farms where the water flowing from the drainage canals is pumped and reused for agricultural purposes, and the conditions of irrigation water distribution according to the type of summer crops.Among the 3 rotation groups in the Madan irrigation area, each group gets access to irrigated water tour times per month.

At Yonepin Water Support System near Kuthapaik Village of Dekkinathiri Township, they met with farmers and instructed to manage and use the water needed for plantations and to participate in water distribution. After that, the Deputy Minister met with farmers in ThitSeintPin Village tract and instructed to cooperate in sharing techniques, awareness activities and sufficiency of seeds.
