Agricultural Development : 24th Weekly Farmers’ Forum held in Nay Pyi Taw

Over 100 participants including researchers, faculties from the University of Agriculture and farmers from Deckhinathiri Township joined the 24th weekly Farmers’ Forum on 3rd February.

Deputy Minister for Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation Dr. Tin Htut and departmental officials were also in attendance while the representatives from regions and states joining online.

At the forum, the Deputy Minister said that it is needed to figure out the facts and methods that are required to make solutions through the exchange of knowledge, techniques and experiences. He continued that transforming the agricultural industry is essential for the development of agriculture based businesses so that all the related sectors are asked to engage in it.

He emphasized that the target yield will be achieved only if farmers take good care to their plantations so that it could see the benefits and the socio-economic development of farmers. During the discussion, farmers shared their experience on high yielding of cultivating super Hnan Kaut paddy strain, as well as strong and weak points for Direct Seeding and Broadcasting method respectively.

Afterwards, Head of Dekkhinathiri Township Agricultural Department reported on the situations of implementation for the development of agriculture sector and on which, the Deputy Minister supplemented the needs. After the forum, the Deputy Minister inspected the Agricultural Microbiology Research Laboratory and Plant Disease Identification Laboratory and Department of Agricultural Research, as well as Rhizobium and Trichoderma productions at Microbiology Research Laboratory at Yezin Agricultural University and the Research of food pellets business made by the faculty and students of the Department of Breeding.
