African Union summit opens amid conflicts and crises

African Union Summit kicked off on Saturday.The two days event is being hosted in the Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa by the African Union Commission (AUC) head.

The AUC head will consider the violence gripping many nations, both in Africa and other parts of the world, saying that Sudan was in "flames", while also highlighting the jihadist threat in Somalia, "eternal tensions" in the eastern Democratic Republic of Congo, the "terrorist danger" in the Sahel, and constant instability in Libya.A mini-summit, aimed at finding ways to restore the peace process for the DRC, was also held on the sidelines of the main AU meetings.
