

Aerial images posted on social media by the Slovenian police show flooding some 23 kilometres North of the capital Ljubljana following heavy rains. Three people have died after floods and landslides caused by the weather cut off access to villages and disrupted traffic in Northeastern and central Slovenia, according to the authorities. Slovenian Prime Minister Robert Golob called a crisis meeting to convene on Saturday to discuss the situation.
The old city centre of Slovenia's third-largest city Celje had to be evacuated as the Savinja river threatened to overflow its banks. The highway connecting Ljubljana with the country's north had to be closed due to flooding as rivers overflowed, destroying bridges and several houses, news website N1 Info said. Some 16,000 households had their electricity cut off.
