On February 22nd, a demonstration showcasing the usage of tractors took place in Let Thit Village of Patheingyi Township, in Mandalay Region.

The initiative, implemented by the ThitHsanLwin Agriculture Cooperative Association and Kubota Myanmar Company Limited, aims to provide the needs for mechanized farming. During the event, Union Minister for Cooperatives and Rural Development U Hla Moe underscored the imperative for tractors, paddy planters, and harvesters, in the time of transition from conventional farming to a mechanized system.

He highlighted the shortage of farm laborers, necessitating the adoption of modern agricultural machinery. In collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation and private enterprises, the ministry endeavors to furnish farmers with essential farming implements at equitable prices. Union Minister U Hla Moe urged collective endeavors to fortify the agricultural sector, fostering higher yields and sustainable development.

Under the supervision of the Cooperative Department, over 500 farming implements have been disbursed to facilitate ploughing across more than 137,000 acres of farmland and harvesting on over 27,000 acres, benefiting 113 Cooperative Associations across Regions and States. Additionally, assistance for acquiring farming equipment has been extended through the JICA Two Step Loan program, managed by the Myanma Agricultural Development Bank under the Ministry of Finance.
