Union Minister for Construction U Myo Thant inspected the work progress of Myanmar-Korea Friendship (Dala) River Crossing Bridge on Saturday. Officials reported on progress of works and future plans, safety faciliteis, connecting pipeline for drinking water supply and chosen site for constructing Toll Plaza.

The Union Minister later inspected the completion of approached road, Ramp Bridge and mid-water pillars on Yangon side as well as chosen site of Toll Plaza and approached road on Dala side. He instructed for safety measures for vessels during the project period.

The Myanmar-Korea Friendship (Dala) River Crossing Bridge, connecting downtown Yangon and Dala, is under construction in accordance with international standards for bridge construction. It aims to facilitate the convenient passage of river cruise liners with a capacity of up to 15,000 tons.

The height for water clearance has been set at 160 ft, necessitating the provision of Ramp Bridges to ensure smooth gradients and minimize the need for the removal of shops and buildings along the Strand Road. For safety reasons, drivers are advised to maintain a speed of 50 kilometers per hour on the main bridge and approach bridges, while reducing speed to 30 kilometers per hour on the Ramp Bridges.
