




A workshop on the 12 action plans drafted for the National Strategic Plan for the Advancement of Women (NSPAW) 2023-2032 was held in Nay Pyi Taw on Friday.
The Chairman of the Steering Committee for drafting NSPAW, Union Minister for Social Welfare, Relief, and Resettlement Dr. Soe Win discussed the crucial role that women and girls play in the effort for the socio-economic development of the nation.
The estimated census data released on October 1, 2022, shows that the country has a population of approximately 55.8 million, with 26.7 million men and 29.1 million women. Under the leadership of the Myanmar National Committee on Women, NSPAW has been drafted and is currently being implemented in collaboration with related ministries and organizations.
The Union Minister called for the cooperation of all stakeholders to promote gender mainstreaming in line with the action plans. The Director-General of the Social Welfare Department reported on the work plans for drafting NSPAW, followed by a round of discussions by the respective work committees on the drafts of the 12 action plans.
