








A workshop on media literacy to address disinformation concluded on Thursday. This short-term workshop was jointly organized by the Asia-Pacific Institute for Broadcasting Development (AIBD) and Myanma Radio and Television (MRTV) under the Ministry of Information.
Its intention was to raise awareness about fake news, disinformation, and mal-information. The closing ceremony was attended by Deputy Minister for Information U Ye Tint and concerned officials. MRTV Director General U Ye Naing explained the benefits gained from conducting the workshop.
Speaker Dr. Sara Chinnasamy made brief remarks during the two-day workshop, followed by words of thanks expressed by one of the trainees on behalf of all participants. In his closing remarks, the Deputy Minister emphasized the need to apply the knowledge gained from this workshop in practical work fields.
Completion certificates were then presented to the trainees, and tokens of commemoration were given to the speakers who contributed to the workshop.
During the workshop, officials from the ministry, Forever Group, and the Myanmar Press Council led discussions on topics such as "Restrictions and Confronting Limitations," "Restrictions and Government and Public Offices Self-Censorship in Myanmar," and "Myanmar Media Council Responsibilities and Stakeholder Connections."
