Activity in Bago Region: Development of library and promoting reading habit

Bago Region organized a campaign for development of library and promoting reading habit on Thursday. Union Minister for Information U MaungMaungOhn attended the event, and highlighted the need to promote reading habit that could contribute for development of the nation.

He stressed the need to create an environs for the youths to equip with constant learning opportunity. He added that the Ministry is carrying out for managing the library works in addition to its primary duty. The success of a library depends on its building, availability of books and periodicals, book borrowers, fund and good librarian.

The Union Minister called for cooperation of all concerned persons for development of libraries across the country and promoting the reading habit. During the ceremony, 30 million kyats cash assistance were provided for renovation of six libraries in Bago Region, along with 45 million kyats for construction of three new libraries.

Moreover, 165 million kyats cash donations were made for construction of 11 new libraries in Bago Region. After the ceremony, the Union Minister and party viewed the display of books and periodicals and documentary photos.
