Activities in Mon State: Htamane Making Competition & Cleaning Campaign

Myanmar Traditional Htamane making competition is annually held with the active public participation from the 1st waning day to the full moon day of Tabodwe across Myanmar. Also in Mon State, 12th Myanmar traditional Htamane making contest was conducted in Thanlwin Garden of Mawlamyine Township on 23rd February with the attendance by Chief Minister U Aung Kyi Thein, Region Government Ministers and departmental personnel.

Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister stressed that the Htamane making competition is held every year in various townships in Mon State to preserve intangible cultural heritage and traditional Myanmar customs and norms.  He urged all competitors to participate vigorously in the contest in a united and disciplined manner, based on team spirit and cooperation.

Then, the Chief Minister inaugurated the competition by striking the gong, encouraged the competing teams and enjoyed the Htamane making event joyously together with departmental personnel.

The Chief Minister and party later presented 1st, 2nd and 3rd prizes to the winning teams from Southeast command (Mawlamyine Station), Education Degree College and No.9 Basic Education High School respectively.

On the 24th morning, the Chief Minster and party encouraged the collective cleaning activities conducted by the departmental personnel, Myanmar Police force, Fire brigade members, social organizations and locals.

These weekly cleaning works have been conducted at various basic education schools in Mon State every Saturday to be clean, green and healthy learning environ. He called for cooperation of all individuals for peaceful learning environ in compliance with schools’ characteristics, overseeing the school building and fulfilled the requirements.
