Activities in Chin State: Commemorative event and coordination meeting

Chin State organized World Consumer Rights Day in Hakha on Friday. Chief Minister Dr Vung Suan Thang made a speech during the event, saying that the Department of Consumer Affairs was established since 1st April, 2016 in order to effectively carry out consumer protection activities through framework legislation.

Themed "Fair and Responsible AI for Consumers" for 2024, AI technology has been widely used in the production, rescue operations,agricultural activities and elderly care services in developed countries. He stressed the responsible needs of AI makers and entrepreneurs to help with AI technology without bias against the consumer.

The Chief Minister then expressed his intention to further develop the rights and interests of all consumers through the use of technology. After a welcome speech by the Chairman of the State Consumer Affairs Committee Minister of Social Affairs, a video clip commemorating the World Consumer Rights Day was screened.

Then, the Chief Minister distributed the 1st, 2nd and 3rd prizes to winners of consumer awareness quiz competition. An official from the State Department of Consumer Affairs expressed words of thanks in return. After that, Chief Minster attended a work coordination meeting of Chin State Government and state level departmental personnel (2/2024) held at State Government Office.

During the meeting, the responsible personnel reported the main tasks of their respective departments. The State Security and Border Affairs Minister Colonel Thein Tun Aung, made a supplemental discussion on the briefings of the state-level departmental officials. And, the Chief Minister coordinated the needs and concluded the meeting with a closing remark.
