Achievements at SEA Games: Myanmar sports teams secured16 gold medals

The 32nd SEA Games hosted by Cambodia is being held from 5th to 17th May.

Among the events, Myanmar weightlifting athlete, Zin May Oo secured gold medal at the women 45 kg Weightlifting match. She raised a total of 161 kg. This is the 16th gold medal grabbed by Myanmar sports contingent.

The Philippines earned silver medal and Laos clinched bronze medal at the weightlifting match. In the Wushu events, Myanmar Wushu athlete, Sandi Oo, won the gold medal with 9.68 points at the Women’s Changquan Wushu competition. Myanmar, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Vietnam and Cambodia participated in the event. 

In the Women’s Nandao sword skill Competition, Vietnam, Indonesia, Myanmar and Malaysia participated in the event and Myanmar Wushu athlete, Aye ThitsarMyint grabbed bronze medal with 18.33 marks.

Myanmar Wushu athlete, Cherry Than nabbed silver medal at the Wushu competition(Sanso) while Myanmar’s Nay Win Htut also grabbed the bronze medal in the Men’s 79-kg event of Wushu (Sanso).

Myanmar’s Wushu Team has already garnered one gold, three silvers, and three bronzes in the 32nd SEA Games.

Meanwhile, at the SEA Games Women’s Football Event, Myanmar beat Thailand 4-2 in the semifinal match. Myanmar will face Viet Nam in the final game on 15th May.

In 2023, Myanmar competed in 19 sorts of sport events at SEA Games with over 300 athletes. Among them, the athletes who completed the competition arrived back Yangon international Airport and nabbed 14 gold medals, 13 silver medals and 37 bronze medals, altogether 64 medals on 11 May.
