Acceleration for reading habit: Yangon Region CM attended the event

The opening ceremony of the campaign for the development of school libraries and the acceleration of reading habit jointly organized by Information and Public Relations Department, Department of Basic Education and Yangon Region Youth Affairs Committee under the supervising of Yangon Region Government was held at No (2) Basic Education High School of Dagon Myothit (Seikkan) Township in Yangon Region in the morning on 29th July with the attendance of Chief Minister U Soe Thein and Region Ministers.

First, the Yangon Region Education Officer, Director of Yangon Region Information and Public Relations Department, Chairman of Dagon Myothit District Administration Body, Dagon Myothit District Education Officer and No (2) Basic Education High School contributor opened the ceremony by cutting the ceremonial ribbon.

Next, the students from No (2) Basic Education High School and No (5) Basic Education High School sung the song of “Let’s preserve the literary heritage”.

Then, the students from No (2) Basic Education High School performed a dance with the song of “Flower Garden”.

Next, the Yangon Region Chief Minister U Soe Thein gave an opening remark.

Nyo Min Lwin, Film Director & Writer said "When we were young, we read many books because we don’s have telephone and tablets at that time. Our entertainment in our young age are the film and books. The books that I read in my young age still influence upon me. Such campaign will certainly contribute to increase the readers."

Sithu Mon Aung, Staff Officer (IPRD), Dagon Myothit (Seikkan) Township said "Today’s event includes the contests and games such as impromptu talk, methods of poem composing, debate, painting contest, poem reciting, essay writing etc."

Then, the Yangon Region Chief Minister together with the Region Ministers, departmental officials, attendees and prize winner students took a documental group photo and viewed the contest for the acceleration of reading habit and games competitions.
