Academic Sector: MOE Union Minister observes exam centers in Rakine State

Union Minister for Education Dr Nyunt Pe together with the Rakhine State Chief Minister, the State Ministers and officials observed the examination centers in Ponnakyun Township, Rakhine State on Wednesday.

The Union Minister and the State Chief Minister cordially greeted parents of the students and town elders. Before the exam, the assigned teachers performed checking the exam entrance cards in line with the exam rules and regulations systematically. Later, the Union Minister viewed around students taking biology and economics exam.

During the inspection, the Union Minister called on the teachers to work together for successful holding of the exam in line with rules and regulations and empahsize on taking exam by the students with peace of mind. The Union Minister and party then viewed around maintenance of teaching hall, greening tasks, construction of teaching halls and fulfilled the needs.

In Rakhine State, 2,214 students registered to take the exam for the biology of science subject on the sixth day at the examination centers in 7 districts and 17 townships of Rakhine State and 1,891 people took the exam, accounting for 85.41 percent. 16,671 students registered to take the exam for the economics subject and 14,560 students took the exam, accounting for 87.34 percent. On the 6th day of matriculation examination, a total of 47,436 students applied to take the biology subject at the 759 exam centers including 3 exam centers in abroad and 43,772 students took the exam, accounting for 92.28 percent.

There were 131,614 registered students for taking the economics subjects across the nation and 117,001 students took the exam, accounting for 88.90 percent.
