ABU 2025 Global News Forum and News Group Meeting have officially begun

The Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union’s (ABU) 2025 Global News Forum and News Group Meeting have officially begun in Istanbul, hosted by Türkiye’s public broadcaster TRT. Over 100 delegates from nearly 30 countries have gathered in the city for the three-day program. 

Held under the theme “Journalism Under Fire,” the forum will explore a range of critical topics including conflict reporting, the fight against disinformation, journalism ethics, and the influence of artificial intelligence and algorithms on news production. 

The official opening ceremony takes place on 22 May, featuring keynote speeches by Türkiye’s Communications Director and TRT Director General. This will be followed by the Global News Forum, open to all international participants. 

The final day will feature exclusive masterclass sessions for media professionals, covering next-generation journalism techniques, security practices, and innovative approaches, all led by top industry experts.
