Abhidhamma Day in Kayah State: Dry provisions offered to the members of Sangha

Organized by the Kayah State Government, ceremony of offering day meals and dry provisions to the members of Sangha commemorating Full Moon Day of Thadingyut (Abhidhamma Day) was held at the State Hall in Loikaw Township in the morning on 17th October and congregation led by the State Chief Minister observed five precepts and took the Paritta Suttas recited by the members of Sangha.

During the ceremony, State Chief Minister U Zaw Myo Tin, Commander of East-Command Ma-J Gen Zaw Min Latt and State Ministers donated offertories to the members of Sangha, shared the merits gained and offered day meal to the Sangha.

In the ceremony, the dry provisions including rice, cooking oil and beans worth 16.259 million Kyats to members of Sangha, novices and Nuns, totaling 316 individuals from 69 monasteries and nunneries in Loikaw Township.

From the evening of Abhidhamma Day, offering 10,000 oil lamps, hosting charity feasts to the guests and releasing hot balloons will be conducted at Loikaw Township historic Myo Nam pagoda with teeming crowd and the Thirimingalar Taung Kwe Ceti and other pagodas and temples are packed with the teeming crowd of pilgrims and those who observe precepts and perform meritorious deeds, it’s reported.
