9th ASEAN-OSHNET Conference: Occupational Safety and Health Network

Myanmar hosted virtually the 9th ASEAN-Occupational Safety and Health Network (ASEAN-OSHNET) Conference and the 4th ASEAN-OSHNET Awarding ceremony at the Ministry of Labour in Nay Pyi Taw, Friday in line with COVID-19 rules and regulations.

At the meeting, the Deputy Minister for Labour U Win Shein said that this year’s theme of the conference is "Strengthening OSH Inspection Systems for Better Workplace". The ASEAN member states are adopting effectively the Occupational safety and health practices and Myanmar is prioritizing to occupational safety and improving health sector.

Later, the ASEAN Secretary General Dato Lim Jock Hoi said that ASEAN has made significant efforts to promote ASEAN's economic growth trend and occupational safety and health measures and it will make to strengthen public-private partnerships and safety commitments.

Later, representatives from partner organizations took part in the discussion in line with the topic of the conference. It was followed by the 4th ASEAN-OSHNET Awarding ceremony and the Deputy Minister gave a speech.

Then, the Director General of the Factories and General Labour Laws Inspection Department presented medals and awarding certificates to officials from the winning companies in ASEAN member states.

The ASEAN-OSHNET Excellence Award is presented once every 2 years to recognize the outstanding performance of the occupational safety and health system and to encourage and promote the implementation of practices on occupational safety and health practices of small and medium-sized enterprises. In the event, Myanmar won one excellence award and one best practices award.
