90-year-old spruce chosen as Russia main Xmas tree

in the Moscow region, a 90-year-old spruce has been selected to be Russia's main Christmas tree. Each year, a tree is selected among dozens of spruces to decorate Sobornaya Square in the Kremlin, in Russia's capital. the spruce has a height of 28 metres and stem diameter of 56 centimetres.

Chief Forest Guard in the Moscow region said she spotted the tree two years ago and after measuring it countless times, she nominated the spruce to the contest. The 22nd main Christmas tree was chosen due to its size, appearance, and age. It had a good pyramid shape and no broken branches.
