




90-day awareness campaign has launched for the Taxi Boards of City Taxis operating in Yangon to be complied with the law.
The Taxi Boards of City Taxis operating in Yangon are of various colors and sizes and putting in various places and they are not consistent with paragraph 273(d) of the 2022 Vehicle Safety and Motor Vehicle Management Rules. That’s why, this activity is done to make Taxi Boards in line with the set rules, according to the official of YRTC.
Lian Cin Mang ,Joint Secretary ,Yangon Region Public Transport Committee-YRTC said " As the objective of YRTC, “In implementing development of safe and secure public transport”, the city taxis also include. When we inspect the registered taxi boards, they are various colours. As the provision of 2022 Road Safety and Motor Vehicle Management Rules, we make all taxi boards to be uniformed."
To have characteristic of the city and to be consistent with the set rules, Road Transport Administration Department of Yangon Region, Traffic police, Yangon City Development Committee, Yangon Region Public Transport Committee (YRTC) and Yangon City Tax Associations are jointly conducting this campaign.
Lian Cin Mang ,Joint Secretary ,Yangon Region Public Transport Committee- YRTC said " The set dimensions of the Taxi Boards are 10 inches at the bottom, 9 inches at the top, 5 inches wide at the bottom, 2 inches wide at the top and 3 inches height. The taxi boards must be placed 1-ft away from the top of the vehicle roof and the distance must be equal on the left and right. The City Taxi Associations formed in Yangon Region will organize the campaign and Myanmar Traffic Police Force, YRTC, Road Transport Administration Department and YCDC jointly conduct the activity. "
The awareness period is set for 90 days from 10th September to 8th December 2023 and after the campaign period, actions will be taken against in line with section 96 of 2020 Vehicle Safety and Motor Vehicle Management Law.
