9 killed as car hits pedestrians in Seoul

At least nine people died and four other people were injured when a car plowed into pedestrians in Seoul on Monday night.

The accident happened in an area busy with tourists, with Seoul City Hall and a popular historic site nearby. Police said there have been no reports of foreigners among the casualties. The car apparently drove in the wrong direction and collided with other vehicles before hitting the pedestrians, citing police information and security camera footage.The driver told police that the car accelerated suddenly.
