8,500 bank accounts of online gambling, blocked

The Indonesian Financial Services Authority (OJK) reported that 8,500 bank accounts related to online gambling had been blocked by the end of 2024, following the blocking of 8,000 accounts in November 2024.

OJK has stepped up its efforts by requesting banks to close accounts linked to resident identity numbers and by conducting enhanced due diligence.

As Dormant or inactive accounts have now become a major focus for banks, OJK has strengthened its supervisory efforts concerning the use of dormant accounts.
