80th Anniversary of DDM: MoSWRR UM attended and gave words of honor

The ceremony of 80th Anniversary of the Department of Disaster Management under the Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief, and Resettlement was held at the assembly hall of the Ministry in Nay Pyi Taw on 17th March.

Union Minister Dr. Soe Win attended the event and delivered a speech. The Union Minister stated that the Department of Disaster Management, which provides assistance and support to those affected by disasters, was established in 1945 and has now reached its 80th anniversary. Over the past eight decades, the department has consistently strived to provide immediate relief to disaster victims, reduce losses caused by disasters, and build a resilient nation.

He expressed respect and gratitude for the contributions of retired senior officials and praised the dedication and commitment of current staff in fulfilling their duties and serving the department with goodwill.

Following this, the Director-General of the Department of Disaster Management extended words of gratitude. A commemorative video showcasing the department's evolution and progress over the past 80 years was presented. After that, the Union Minister, along with retired senior officials and current staff of the Department were hosted with a dinner.

The event featured a disaster risk reduction awareness performance and musical performances by the department's staff, creating a joyful atmosphere. The Union Minister and his wife honored the performing staff with awards.

The ceremony was attended by 280 participants, including the Union Minister, Deputy Ministers, Permanent Secretary, Directors-General, Deputy Permanent Secretary, Deputy Directors-General, departmental staff, and invited retired officials of the department.
