79th Anniversary: Celebration held at Myanma Radio and Television

79th anniversary of Myanma Radio and Television (MRTV) was celebrated in Nay Pyi Taw Tatkone on Saturday. The MRTV under the Ministry of Information is the very first media institution in Myanmar.

The celebration was attended by Vice Chairman of the State Administration Council Deputy Prime Minister Vice Senior General Soe Win. On his arrival, the Vice Senior General was welcomed by Union Minister U Maung Maung Ohn and officials, along with the ethnic national staff and artists.

The celebration commenced with the screening of LED Animation at the Auditorium, followed by the entertainment program and screening of a video clip portraying the efforts of the state media for the interest of the nation and its people.

After that, the Vice Senior General launched the MRTV Entertainment Channel, Mahar HD Channel and MRTV Radio Application. In his speech, the Vice Senior General praised the efforts of MRTV throughout the 79 years services, contributing to the public through information, entertaining and educating.

He also acknowledged the collective efforts of the MRTV staff and the Ministry of Information, serving their duties with innovative idea and harmonious cooperation. He urged all to keep on contribution to the nation and people, through the media works for non-disintegration of the union and perpetuation of the sovereignty.

Then, the Vice Senior General provided 7.5 million kyat for the MRTV 79th anniversary celebration to the Union Minister who in turn presented the commemorative logo. This was followed by presenting of awards to the outstanding staff members who excelled in broadcasting extended channels as well as the winners of the ABU Diversity and Inclusion Media Award and CGTN Myanmar Article Contest.

Then, the Vice Senior General and attendees enjoyed the entertainment programs, performed by the artistes from Fine Art Department of the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Culture, MRTV staff, Myawady Music Troupe under the Directorate of Public Relations and Psychological Warfare, artists, National Symphony Orchestra, Traditional Orchestra and modern music troupes.

After the ceremony, the Vice Senior General and party took a tour of MRTV, observing the news studios, transmission rooms, Convergence News Rooms, production of MSME Promos in Myanmar and ethnic languages, trial run of AI production and audio recording of a radio drama.

The Vice Senior General later had a luncheon, hosted in honour of the 79th anniversary of MRTV together with the MRTV Staff. After that the Vice Senior General and party toured around the MRTV Diamond Jubilee Museum. Since its establishment in 1946, MRTV has been providing information, knowledge and entertainment to the public, while striving to transform in conformity with the change trend of age.
