76th Kachin State Day: Dy Prime Minister attends commemorative ceremonies

SAC Member Deputy Prime Minister and Union Minister for Defence Admiral Tin Aung San and other SAC members as well as union ministers and officials attended the 76th Kachin State Day Ceremony on the lawn in front of the Kachin State Government Office in Myitkyina on Wednesday.

The Ceremony began with the Deputy Prime Minister, reading out the message sent by Chairman of the State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Thadoe Maha Thray Sithu Thadoe Thiri Thudhamma Min Aung Hlaing.

And, Kachin State Chief Minister U Khet Htein Nan gave remarks. The Ceremony continued with Union Minister for Border Affairs Lt-Gen Tun Tun Naung providing 150 sets of 120W Home Solar Panels for the state and Union Minister for Information U Maung Maung Ohn providing 10 sets of MRTV DTH and 100 DVB T2 Set Top Boxes. 

And, the officials and guests participated in the Manaw Dance to close the Ceremony. It’s learnt that the 10th of January was designated as Kachin State Day in honour of forming the Kachin State government at the first Kachin State Council Conference held on the 10th of January 1948 in the post-independence period of Myanmar.

In the afternoon, at the People’s Sports Ground, the Deputy Prime Minister and officials presented the Excellent Performance in Economy Field (1st Class) and the Excellent Performance in Social Field (1st Class) awards. Also, at the State Government Office, the Deputy Prime Minister and officials met with religious leaders from various Christian churches in the state.

In this meeting, the Deputy Prime Minister expressed words of thanks to the religious leaders for their attendance at the 76th Kachin State Day Ceremony. He also expressed his hope that all Christians from various churches would participate in the development of the country by saying prayers. And, they made discussions before the Deputy Prime Minister donated a fruit basket and 1 million Kyats each to the religious leaders from the 6 churches.

Later the day, the Deputy Prime Minister and officials attended an honourary dinner, marking the 76th Kachin State Day at the state government office. There, the Kachin State Chief Minister expressed words of thanks to those for their attendance at the 76th Kachin State Day Ceremony. He also expressed his belief that all will work together with unity for development of Kachin State and the country.

And, the Deputy Prime Minister and officials hosted the dinner together with attendees. The dinner session also included traditional performances and cash awards were presented to artists.
