6th ACCMSME Meeting: VP Delivered Opening Speech At The Meeting

The vice president U Myint Swe delivered an opening address at the opening ceremony of 6th ASEAN Coordinating Committee on Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises - 6th ACCMSME Meeting and associated meetings held at Park Royal Hotel, Nay Pyi Taw on Monday.

Also present at the meeting were the union ministers, deputy ministers, deputy governor of the central bank of Myanmar, chairperson of ASEAN Coordinating Committee on Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, chairman and members of UMFCCI, representatives from ASEAN and partner countries, experts and invited guests.

In his opening address, the vice president firstly expressed the honor for having opportunity to host the 6th ASEAN Coordinating Committee on Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises and associated meetings. Then, he added that ASEAN SME Agency Working Group was established in 1995.

In 2016, the name of ASEAN SME Agencies Working Group (SMEWG) was changed to ASEAN Coordinating Committee on Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (ACCMSME) to better reflect the expanded scope of work to cover micro-enterprises and to reflect the need to expand the composition of the committee.

It’s appreciated with its achievement on formulating ASEAN Strategic Action Plan for SME Development (2016-2025). This meeting is very important for the development of MSMEs in ASEAN Region. The five strategic plans for the development of MSMEs in ASEAN Region are to promote productivity, technology and innovation, increase access to finance, enhance market access and internationalization, enhance policy and regulatory environment and promote entrepreneurship and human capital development.

There are key performance indicators to acquire the outcomes of vision in the implementation in line with those 5 strategic plans. It’s needed to implement for the achievement of the main target of economic development applying those key performance indicators.

It’s believed that the 6th ASEAN Coordinating Committee on Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Meeting and associated meetings to be able to fulfill the needs of MSMEs in ASEAN region including Myanmar and facilitate to promote the economic development.

The vice president also expressed his words of thank to the representatives of ASEAN countries and dialogue partner countries including China, Japan, Korea, India, Russia and the partner organizations such as OECD, USAID, GIZ etc. Next, the chairperson of ASEAN Coordinating Committee on Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, Mr. Lor Sathya delivered the remark. The opening ceremony was concluded after posing for documentary photo by the vice president together with the attendees.

At the second part of agenda, the 6th ASEAN Coordinating Committee on Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Meeting led by the union minister for industry U Khin Maung Cho continued. At the meeting, the matters on the development of MSMEs, acceleration of MSME works with GIZ of Germany, Economic Research Institute for ASEAN and East Asia, Myanmar Research Institute and Digital Economic Project, ASEAN Business Advisory Council and the guideline programs for ASEAN entrepreneurs, ASEAN-American Business Advisory Council and Online Academy were discussed.

It’s learnt that the 6th ASEAN Coordinating Committee on Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Meeting and associated meetings will be held from 5th to 9th of November.
