A 5.7-magnitude earthquake struck capital city Dhaka and several other parts of Bangladesh on Friday, according to Bangladesh Metrological Department (BMD). It said the epicenter of the quake was located at Madhabdi in Narsingdi, 13km east from the BMD Seismic Centre, Agargaon in Dhaka.

Three pedestrians were killed in Dhaka’s Bangshal area after falling bricks from a building during an earthquake. The sudden jolt prompted residents in many areas of Dhaka to rush outdoors in panic. The tremor lasted only a few seconds, but people evacuated homes, offices, and commercial buildings as a precautionary measure.
